Welcome to the new Hiram Richardson website. Thank you very much for visiting the site! The site is under construction and as time goes by, it will evolve. Hiram has enjoyed a career as an illustrator and gallery artist and considers himself fortunate to be in the field.
BIOGRAPHY:
Raised on a ranch outside Newcastle, Colorado Hiram Richardson's works are representative of his real life experiences of western culture. After graduating from the American Academy of Art in Chicago and the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, he began illustrating books for Fawcett Publishing in 1976. Since then he has worked for every major publishing company including Avon, Bantam, Doubleday, Fawcett, Warner, Dell, Viking, Ballentine, Zebra, Random House, Harliquinn and Penguin Putnam.
Hiram has illustrated books for some of the following authors and series: Orson Scott Card, Louis L'Amour, Zane Grey, Luke Short, Leon Uris, Ian Slater, Norah Lofts, Alistair MacLean, Jeffrey Archer, Joseph Wambaugh, and the Doc Savage series. Hiram is currently illustrating book covers for three series printed by Penguin Putnam Publishing, they are the Frank Leslie, Trailsman and Ralph Compton series.
Branching into fine art, Hiram has displayed his work in: the Old West Museum Annual Art Show Cheyenne, Wyoming, the American Impressionist Society, the Arts for the Parks, Cheyenne Frontier Days Western Art Show, New York Society of Illustrators and the Scottsdale Salon of Fine Art. He lives near Carbondale, Colorado with his wife Ann.
He currently has his artwork on display in the Cooper Corner Gallery in Glenwood Springs, CO.
